Interpreters/Volunteers
One of the most amazing things about ministering in Brazil is the relationship you will cultivate with the interpreters and volunteers who help us every day. Obviously, since most of us do not speak Portuguese, we are completely dependent on our interpreters to communicate with the children, as well as many of the volunteers who show up to help. They may be college students, retired professionals, church members, or simply men and women who heard about what we are doing and God sends them to bless our Team. Every year, our program has grown and God has been faithful to provide exactly what we needed to allow us to effectively minister to these children. Those who cannot speak English, work in the kitchen providing our daily meals, run errands for supplies, play in the band, or help out with instructing the kids throughout the day.

Please keep in mind these Brazilian volunteers are not being paid and, many of them, have taken the entire week off from school and/or their jobs just to be with us. What a humbling example of sacrifice and service! Likewise, we need to be very respectful of their time and appreciate everything they do to make this mission trip possible. Do not forget, even though we need their help to communicate God’s message to these precious children, we are there to serve and not be served (1 Peter 4:11).
