We start preparing almost 3 months in advance with 6 Team meetings, which are mandatory for all participants. We recommend children be at least 10 yrs old or older, but we will discuss this with you if you have younger kids and want them to participate.

In order to be eligible to go and to reserve yourself a spot, you must:
1) Possess a valid passport that is not due to expire at least 6 months after you return to the U.S.;
2) Complete VFC's STMT Application, Unity Covenant, and Release & Waiver, all of which can be found here
3) Submit a copy of your passport picture and signature page; and
4) Submit a $100 deposit check made payable to "VFC."

Once you turn in all of these items, you will be confirmed, assuming space is still available. The total cost of the trip is approximately $2,000 per person, but we will ALL raise our support as a Team, so do not let this be a stumbling block! If God has been tugging at your heart strings "to go," please do not ignore His call. This can be a life-changing experience for you, if you will only make the commitment to going and start trusting in God to prepare the way.

We will eat all of our meals together as a Team. Breakfast will be at the hotel (buffet style) and we will have a morning devotional time together in order to encourage each other, reflect on the past day, and prepare for upcoming VBS activities. Lunch will be at our VBS location, which usually consists of a simple rice and beans dish, soup and sandwich, or some other lovingly prepared meal. Dinner will usually be at a restaurant, unless we have activities planned that evening, in which case food and drinks will be provided. It is also a good idea to bring some energy bars or other self-contained snacks (see Suggested Packing List) to keep in your backpack, in case you get hungry during the day.  Additionally, we will provide everyone with all the bottled water you will need. Finally, we will have some personal time to go to the beach, shop for gifts, and do a little sightseeing, so we can gain some appreciation of Brazil’s beauty.
